Mushroom Chaga Why Is It Light Colored

The lighter color of our chaga mushroom powder, compared to that of other producers, can be attributed to several factors. Primarily, the color is influenced by the organic brown rice substrate on which the mushroom is cultivated. The particular strain used in our product has been genetically verified and exhibits a bright yellow color when cultured on a petri dish, with a slight hue on the rice it grows on.

Our chaga mushroom powder is sourced from mycelium, and while wild-harvested chaga conks, which grow on trees, also contain mycelium, our supplier has yet to conduct a direct study comparing their material to wild specimens. However, they are confident that their chaga offers significant health benefits.

The lighter color is also a result of our gentle processing method. Unlike other producers who may use high temperatures that produce a darker, brown product, we utilize a low-heat dehydration process (125°F) over a longer period of time. This method ensures the preservation of enzymes and proteins, which are often denatured at higher temperatures. By processing under near-aseptic conditions and using low heat, we are able to produce a cleaner, higher-quality chaga mushroom powder.
