Reishi, Maitake, Cordyceps, and Shiitake: These mushrooms are prepared through a steam activation process, which involves mycelium or a combination of mycelium and fruiting body in its whole food form. Steam activation is a highly effective method for enhancing beta-glucan content in a bioavailable form. This process also preserves alcohol-soluble constituents.
